I have a Blaze King Princess Insert. Awesome stove and has worked great so far this yr. (1st Yr using this stove) I have a problem with the blower. When I shut the blower off when the fan is cool and then load the stove and get it back up to temp the fan doesn't work right. Meaning, when I turn the fan back on it doesn't blow on the low settings until I run it on high for a few minutes then all of a sudden it " kicks in" and blows like it should. Is there a problem with the fan or the reostat? Anyone else have this problem? Thanks in advance Pete

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer to your question. But I saw your post and wanted to say that you've got a really neat stove there.

I was just over at a friend's house last night admiring his Blaze King insert. I knew he burned wood but hadn't been in his house to see his setup. That insert really throws great heat! The catalytic combined with the fan and his large brick hearth enable him to easily heat his large older house. When it was time to leave, it was hard to walk away from that great back warmer!

I have a BK with fans.
Different set-up but my fans won't kick on if the stove is cold. But that is just a temp switch
that supplies power to the rheostat & I can vary the speed anytime.
Sounds like a rheostat issue but could be a temp switch bypassing the rheostat
to run on high until the stove comes up to temp. Don't sound right but can you find a schematic of the wiring?
It may be something they wired into an insert to get lots of air moving on start-up.
Has it always operated like you describe?
If no, then it sure sounds like a dirty, worn rheostat or faulty.
My manual has a trouble shooting section, you may find something in the manual for your insert.

Knowing nothing about BK specifics, that could be dirty contacts in the rheostat. You could try buying a contact cleaner spray--Radio Shack or Best Buy might carry one, and trh that. Or just turn the rheostat knob a bunch of times and see if that cleans the contacts.

It sounds like an issue with the rheostat, but not being there in person this is just a guess. Your local dealer should be able to help, especially if it's still under warranty.

I'm a little confused. Are you saying the blower won't work when the thermostat is on the low setting, or with the blower knob at the low setting?

The stove has a snap disc switch that wont allow the blower to run at all when the stove is cold.

No, not the thermostat just the fan setting. If the stove is cold and I turn the fan on low it is barely moving any air. Once it is on for a while then the fan starts to blow harder. Even if the stove is a little warm the fan does the same thing. I am pretty sure that it didn't do this when new. Maybe a faulty Reostat or just dirty. Thanks. Pete

I think your OK with the fan, Its a new insert and its heating your house! The fan works but it has to heat up for a little while.

It does not have a manual override?

Blaze King Fan Problem ? (2024)

FAQs

Why is my Blaze King smoking out the back? ›

Inadequate drafting may cause back puffing into the room and plugging of the chimney. Inadequate draft may also cause the appliance to leak smoke into the room through the appliance and chimney connector joints. An uncontrollable burn or glowing red stove part or chimney connector indicates excessive draft.

How long will a Blaze King wood stove burn? ›

The King can burn for 40+ hours on low or produce a tremendous amount of heat for 12 to 16 hours, depending on your installation and wood type. The distance from the door opening to the bottom of the firebox is 9".

How does the Blaze King thermostat work? ›

Blaze King models feature a bimetal coil thermostat This simple thermostat evens out the uneven nature of burning wood. Blaze King owners typically only adjust their thermostats once or twice and day. Nearly all other wood stoves have a damper to regulate air-flow and require more frequent adjusting.

How to start a fire in a Blaze King wood stove? ›

LIGHTING YOUR FIRST FIRE

BUILD THE FIRE DIRECTLY ON THE BRICK ON THE FLOOR OF FIREBOX. Light the ire and allow it to get a good start while leaving the loading door slightly ajar (approximately 3 to 5 minutes). (see Figure 7) DO NOT LEAVE THE UNIT UNATTENDED.

Why is smoke coming back out of my fireplace? ›

Fireplaces require a good air supply to function well. One major cause of fireplace smoke is a lack of oxygen within the room, especially in newer homes with good insulation. To fix this problem, you can open up the air vents and windows in the same room as the fireplace.

Is it OK to leave a wood burning stove on overnight? ›

As long you have followed all the general safety precautions, you can safely go to sleep with your wood burner still lit and no need to extinguish any flames.

Why won't my wood stove burn all night? ›

Keeping the coals together in the front of the stove provides a strong heat source to ignite the logs. If you leave coals across the entire bottom of the stove, all of the wood will ignite at once, and this will shorten the burn.

Is Blaze King the best wood stove? ›

At 81% efficiency the King is the most efficient wood stove in the world. This allows you to get the most heat out of your wood to reduce your heating costs.

How do I reset my King thermostat? ›

What is the heat output of the Blaze King? ›

Can you burn coal in a Blaze King wood stove? ›

FUEL THIS STOVE IS FOR USE WITH SOLID WOOD, BITUMINOUS COAL OR ANTHRACITE COAL ONLY. Do not burn trash, paper, pine branches or artificial fire logs. Such abuse may void the warranty.

Why is my king pellet stove smoking? ›

Getting smoke from the hopper typically means you have an air flow issue on the unit. One ting to try to determine this is to open a widow close to the stove to see if that frees up some air to move the smoke the right way up the stack.

How do I stop my wood stove from puffing back? ›

Stoves that backpuff or smoke at start-up are extremely annoying, but fortunately the cure is simple. You need positive draft in your chimney when you light the fire. Without positive draft to pull smoke up the chim- ney, the smoke from your fire will just build in the firebox until it eventually spills into the room.

How to stop smoke from coming back down the chimney? ›

The best solution is often to install a Smoke-Guard, which is a metal strip that makes the opening of your fireplace smaller. With a more compatible ratio of flue size to fireplace opening, the fireplace should stop smoking.

Why does my wood stove back puff? ›

This is usually caused by poor draft or draw. The chimney system does not pull hard enough to move the exhaust fumes quickly through the secondary burn off system. Volatile flue gases then ignite inside the main combustion zone (the fire) and make small puffs of smoke.
