Buffalo Chicken Dip Slow Cooker Tips

  • Buffalo sauce heat levels vary by brand. Start by adding a quarter cup of sauce to your dip and then add more later to taste to prevent making it too spicy.
  • Be sure to cook the dip on low in the slow cooker. If you cook it on high it can easily burn, and your cheese might separate, causing the fat to separate.

FAQ's

How to store it

Transfer your dip to an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 4 days.

How to reheat

Transfer the amount you want to reheat to a microwave-safe dish and cover. Heat in 30-second increments until your desired temperature is reached.

Why is my buffalo chicken dip greasy?

Sometimes if you cook your dip on high in the crockpot, it will cause separation to occur. It is best to cook your dip on low to allow the temperature to rise slowly to prevent the oil from separating and becoming greasy.

Will buffalo chicken dip thicken as it cools?

Buffalo chicken dip is a lot of cheese. When the dip is hot, it will be thinner, but as it cools, it will set and become thicker. If you pull it out of the fridge the next day, it will become very thick.

What goes best with buffalo chicken dip?

The great thing about this dip is that it goes well with SO many different things! I love to serve it with vegetables such as celery, carrot sticks, peppers, cauliflower, and so many others! It is also so delicious with tortilla chips, potato chips, bread, crackers, and more.

  • VARIATIONS: The celery and green onion and freshness and a nice crunch, but may be omitted; use cheddar cheese in place of blue cheese - or a combination. It's tastes great to use cheddar in the dip and top with blue cheese; Use hot or mild buffalo sauce - any favorite brand will do; Ranch dressing can be substituted for blue cheese; Canned cubed chicken or rotisserie shredded chicken may be substituted (make sure to cut up any larger pieces).
  • TIP: There is a variance in taste and heat level amongst buffalo sauce brands. I like to start with ¼ a cup and add more as needed. Do a taste test before adding the toppings and adjust the heat level and add salt and pepper to taste if needed.
  • SERVING SUGGESTIONS: Drizzle with a little extra buffalo sauce for color before topping with celery and onion. A few sprinkles of blue cheese add texture. Serve with celery and carrots sticks, tortilla chips, crackers, or small toasted bread slices.
