Hi Barbara
I have a conventional pressure cooker given to me. I want to use it but the electric sounds so much easier! Can you give me some tips please? Barb-
Barbara Schieving — Reply
Hi Barbara – the electrics are easier because the pressure cooker regulates the pressure and you don’t have to. However, it works on the same principle as a stovetop pressure cooker. The electric pressure cooker doesn’t start counting down until it has reached pressure. So bring your stovetop pressure cooker to pressure the way you normally would and then reduce the heat to maintain temperature and start a timer for the time in the recipe you’re using. If a recipe has less than 1 cup liquid, you may need to add additional liquid for a stovetop pressure cooker depending on how proficient you are at regulating the pressure. Have fun!

I tried the Pork Chops in the pressure cooker last night. Those were awesome! I do think that the next time I make these, I’ll add some garlic (either minced or powder) and some parsley. Other than that, everyone really enjoyed them and asked for them again. I served them over rice. No other veggies were necessary. Thank you for the recipe.

Cant wait to try these, I really need to expand my EPC repertoire! There is no comparison between the slow cooker and the EPC…. I rarely take the slow cooker out. It isn’t necessary when I can be out of the house 10 hours at work and get a great meal on the table in minutes. Why does the food from the EPC taste so much better?
I am so glad I found this site. Turkey looks great.-

Hi Margaret – I’m so glad you found me too. My slow cooker rarely makes it out of the cupboard either. Food is so much better tasting when prepare in the pressure cooker. Have fun!

Yet again. Chicken Fiesta in pressure cooker. Thrown in garbage. So confused why everyone loves it. In a good cook, love expert recipes, love easy recipes. Love a crock pot. Why does nothing work in the pressure cooker! Garage sale for sure

Sorry you’re struggling Sue. What recipe did you use? What pressure cooker are you using? Have you tried easy things like applesauce? How about my potato salad?

I just realized that there are more comments below this box. It’s a delight to read the comments of happy ‘customers’ of your site. I don’t care for meatloaf, but my 86 year old mom does. I, too, am just about to start using an electric pressure cooker, and just needed a push. The butter chicken got me so excited, I’m ordering it online tonight. I love Amazon, at the same time as fearing them.
Thanks so much for all the time and effort you put into this blog. I wouldn’t do it, myself, any more. I’m only doing the EPC because I just don’t want to cook at all anymore, and if I can throw stuff in a pot, push a couple of buttons, and walk away until it’s done, I’m so there. Juicing, an occasional stir-fry or scrambled egg, augmented by toast, microwaved boxed soup, or frozen pizza comprise all I ever care to cook again otherwise. But the EPC could be a game changer, or a total waste of money. I’m up for a gamble on food I wouldn’t take the time to cook otherwise.
And I have to face it: I’m going to have to cook for my mother, too, soon. She likes that kind of food better than I, but it’s certainly comfort food, because I grew up with it.
So, thanks again, for a great site.-

that meatloaf is to die for! I hated meatloaf, but for some reason this one kept calling my name. I made it and thought I died and went to heaven. I couldn’t call my mom fast enough to tell her all about it. I purchased a pressure cooker for her for xmas. My brother has gained 35 pounds eating her meals from her cooker. He loved it so much that for xmas she bought him one. Love these recipes, and its great sharing all our tips with each other. Try the meatloaf!!!! OMG, now I gotta make it again, oh darn 😉

Barbara, I love you and you’re pressure cooking website! Why are’nt you on Food Network…Cooking Channel? I, found both your websites…love the way you communicate! Makes everything looks so good, happy eating! Because of you, I ordered me the Instant Pot! Getting it Friday, so excited!
Question, I noticed many of the recipes calls for when you hear a beep…well, I am deaf…will never hear the beep! Can you tell me how I can tell if the beep sounds.
I would love to see you on TV!-
Barbara Schieving — Reply
Thanks Maggie – what a sweet comment! Maybe someday The Food Network will recognize my genius lol. I’m so exited for you to get cooking with your new Instant Pot. Not being able to hear the beep isn’t a problem, the digital display also counts down to zero so you’ll know when the cooking time has ended. I just go by the beep because I can hear it from the other room. Have fun!

These are all top recipes. I’ve made several of them, but the cheesecake has been the most brilliant discovery in pressure cooking. I don’t have the time or energy to start a separate pressure cooking blog, as you have. Still, I’m going to continue sharing pressure cooker recipes, even though so many readers are afraid to try this wonderful way of cooking. Last night, I re-read some of my pressure cooker cookbooks and I’m committed to using mine even more! Thanks for all the inspiration you’ve given me.
