| Nope... never heard of a harley vw swap... I think you will be fabricating most of the hardware yourself. Good luck. Post some pitures when you get it working. | |

| There was a company making an adaptor a few years ago, but I don't know if they went out of business or just stop making them. Why would I want a Harley swap......????? Obviously your not a Harley guy LOL. My vision is of a split window double cab, jet black on the bottom and Harley racing orange on top, powered by a 130 hp 103 cu in V-Twin and custom HD interior etc HD speedo and gauges. What better match than a fuel injected air cooled V-Twin and Volkswagon... | |

| Thought about two, but it would require a custom crank to join them, plus the intake and exhaust plumbing would be a nightmare. I think a single, properly built engine would be more than enough power to move it down the road. I've found a 127 ci. engine putting out 140 hp. | |

| The Harly engine will be the focal point of the whole build and theme of the Double Cab. Doing a big engine swap is boring, been there done that, anyone can do that and it's been done thousands of times. Some times the challenge is what makes it fun. Plus, no matter what kind of exhaust you put on a VW engine it'll never sound as nice as a Harley. | |

| I figure the hard part would be engineering cooling ductwork for the HarlEy engine, and make it work well without looking like a total cobjob. Personally, I like the idea of a big displacement V-twin powering a rail or glass buggy....that would have to sound cool. | |

| Harley makes a cooling fan that mounts to the rear of the heads and blows through the V. I figured I'd use a slightly larger radiator fan mounted to the rear of the engine so from the front it would not be visible, then run ducting from the side vents to the back side of the fan. In addition to that, a larger oil cooler with a thermostatic controled fan mounted underneath in the breeze. This should provide pleanty of cooling. the oil cooler would handle most of the cooling while driving and the fan on the heads would help out in traffic. | |

| I know for a fact that there are at least TWO companies still making these adapter kits. I just looked at their websites a month or so ago. I'm afraid I don't have the URLs right off hand- but keep looking, you will find 'em! - David P.S. - The Harley themed single cab sounds like a great idea- I'm sure you would get attention with it, and it would be neat to see something "fresh" at a car show! | |

| doesn't look like much of an adaptation. maybe a local machine shop with a metal lathe and computer could fabricate it for you. | |

| PROJECT UPDATE....... I found a 64 Double Cab in Az and worked out a sweet deal with the owner. I'm driving out to pick it up on Thursday...... :D then it's going right to the paint shop. A little change of plans on the colors. It's going to be metalic silver on the bottom and black on top with a very thin Harley orange pinstripe where the colors meet. It will be similar to the Ford F-150 Harley Edition trucks. I haven't figured out the interior yet. All I need now is an engine!!!!! anyone got a line on an reasonably priced Twin-Cam "B" engine???? Any displacement would be fine to start out. Harley makes a Big Bore 95cu and 103 cu kit that I'd be able to add on later if I start out with an 88 cu. | |

| I saw a two tone bus similar to what I thought you had in mind for the paint scheme. I think black on the bottom and orange on the roof would look extremely sharp. The black/silver will look good too, but the black and orange is more of an obvious nod to Harley. Either way, a very cool sounding project. Good luck! | |
